I am thinking of going to Ouestreham in company next year for the commemoration of the D day landings, has anyone got an idea of the diesel costs over there and how they compare to UK, I have 2 thirsty engines to feed.

Expensive! But you will be going past the Channel Islands so plan to pull in to Gurnsey and fill up for about 60p, (there's a nice chap on the forum with a lovely Flemming who might chip in with the actual price....)
Last time I was in france prices seemed to be around 1.5 e per litre....

"there's a nice chap on the forum with a lovely Fleming" - that'll be me then! OK, just checked with Fuel Supplies (01481 200800) and its 61p/ltr for over 1,000 litres. Slightly more if less than 1,000. Call them and arrange the date and time for refuelling at St Sampson's at Abraham's Bosom. It's so easy.

Many thanks to Piers and Nigelpickin for your helpful replies. Nigel, where are you based in Falmouth, we are at Mylor.

Some info for UK boats buying fuel in Guernsey....

Since Guernsey is not part of the UK nor part of the EU, there are no implications whatsoever on returning to the UK for craft that have bought red (duty-free) fuel in Guernsey. However, it is always advisable to keep the receipt as proof of where it was bought.

If a UK craft subsequently travels to Europe with red diesel bought from Guernsey, there are still no implications since the Instanbul Convention of 1990 states the fuel is VAT and duty neutral.

Keeping the receipt and a log of where you have travelled is important.
