diesel overhaul

I have taken the Sole Mini 18 engine and gearbox out to fix a oil leak in the gearbox, while the engine is out I want to do an overhaul.
I am going to: -
get injectors recalibrated
fit new engine mounts
change all hoses
repaint

Is there anything else that could be usefully done? I am reasonable competent mechanically (have rebuilt car engines)

Rewire it in good heat proof, properly terminated wires. i.e strain relief and vibration relief.

Check/Change front seal

Check the starter motor pinion

Check the dampening arrangement between gearbox and flywheel. Springs or rubber bushes.

Check for rust pits on sump underside.

Decoke the head and grind in the valves would be on my list as well as all the others and when you have the head off, clean out the water jacket spaces and exhaust mixing elbow.

Replace any internal anodes. New seals and gaskets all round too. Nothing worse than an oil leak discovered when engine installed.

overhaul the cylinder head. Does not takt long andf the benefits are many.
