Advice, please:

I installed an electric pump [max 120 litres per hour] between the fuel tank & the genny. The new pipe from the pump, which is positioned outside the genny case, feeds to the solenoid & from there via a high pressure pipe to the injector & fuel return. Because of the location it is not possible to inspect the engine whilst it is running & I have not been able to spot the source of the leak after shutdown. The max. consumption is less than 2 litres per hour & I wonder if the pump is simply pushing to much fuel for the small high pressure pipe to handle?

I do not wish to use the lift pump, unless it it is fed from the electric, but would welcome any input from those with more knowledge than I [ all of you] or a source for a pump that pushes 5 litres an hour.

Hopeful thanks,

John G

Clean the genny enclosure, sprinkle lots of talc around, run genny for a while - stop genny and look for the leak - easy to see in the talc. Might take a couple of goes to pinpoint the exact union that is leaking.

A small car fuel pump, is all you need, will supply plenty of fuel. Most small gennys have a feed and return line, so any pump will not supply too much, however depends on the output pressure of the pump. The talc tip is a classic, also leaks are one of the reasons pro diesel engines are painted white.
