I think I'm going to get an Eber installed this winter. They seem to be the market leaders, but no more expensive than the others (unless someone knows differently)

What budget should I allow for labour to have a 3 outlet system fitted into a Bav 34? Any recommendations (good and bad) on installers in the Solent area?

Install it yourself - took me about 5 hours. Anyway assuming that you will have one outlet in each aft cabin (do you have two adt cabins) then have them install the closable outlets in these, leaving the open one in the main cabin. The aft cabins tend to heat up really fast and you need some way to keep the temp down. This also has the effect of sending more hot air to the main cabin which is harder to heat up.

Not so sure about the DIY bit; Cutting dirty great circles in wood and GRP is best left in the hands of the pro IMHO.

Good tip about the closable vents in fore and aft cabin, so the main cabin heats up quickly initially. I presume the system does not mind only one outlet, and does not cut out because of back pressure.

Ive also been suggested to get an opening section in the duct for the open oily locker in the heads.

The system needs at least one opening so the other two can be closed. An outlet in the heads would be great. If the heads are forward you may want to use the smaller diameter tubing for this run as access becomes a problem the further forward you go.

Not difficult if you buy the right tools. I bought an arbor and various hole cutters from RS Components and then found I could have bought them from the builders merchant in Hythe. The most difficult bit was the hole for the balanced flue which is at an angle through the boat but they supply along rod to go into the arbor. The wiring is a harness and the only problem there was the connectors on the bottom of the fuse block are difficult to insert fully. Got funny symptoms as one connection went intermittent. Kreuger in New Milton are very good and will supply and advise within reason. They will also fit it for you if you are not confident! I agree it always traumatic cutting big holes anywhere in a boat.

Knowledgeable & helpful Dave at Kruegers said I couldn't join onto my Ardic ducting because it is only 70mm dia and the Eberspacher requires a minimum of 75mm. Was he bullsh**ing me, does yours work ok? He said it would overheat!

I've not had any problems with mine so far. I've had it on for hours at a time without any problem . The way they did mine was to run a new piece of ducting from the Eberspacher to the main cabin , where they butted into the existing ducting. I was advised by Adrian who I'm almost certain is the MD at Krueger . Give Adrian a phone and mention my boat name and model , Out Of The Blue/Maxi 1100 as Adrian will remember it because a mate of his also bought a Maxi 1100 and had the same problem as myself.

Just one point. Are you prepared for the amount of space these things use up. I have one on my 36ft Halberdier which has loads of storeage, but Ive only used it twice this year and to be honest Id take it out if I could be bothered.
