Diesel Fuel Maint for Volvo D6, 370hp

I have 2 year old engines. In the US, the fuel is low sulphur content, but it is good quality.

I am curious how others are managing with the same engines.

Current regimen:

Keep tanks full to prevent condensation.

Biobor JF biocide in maint amount at top offs, no shock doses yet.

A well respected member on the CSR forum, in the states, says he also uses the following for his 20 year old Cats:

Power service diesel Kleen for cetane improvement.

Stanadyne lubricity additive.

Thoughts on the latter two for my situation for these Volvos with common rail?

This is a common engine in Europe. Not a single reply?

D6 is the best selling engine in its power node in Europe as well as Worldwide.

I do have some experience with U.S. marine market and there is a degree of paranoia regarding ULSD let alone zero sulphur fuel.

Volvo D6 has Bosch CP3 common rail fuel system which is widely used on many makes of diesel engine and the system operates and was DESIGNED to operate on zero sulphur fuel WITHOUT lubricity additives.

We were all highly skeptical in 1997 when performing durability testing as CP3 pump is fuel lubricated, however system has lived up to claims, however running a common rail engine without two stage filtration with a good level of agglomeration is at best reckless.
 
As I said on another thread today:

"I would use a good biocide such as Grotamar 82 every time you fill up to normal protection level.

Keep a watch-full eye on your diesel pre-filter (Racor or Separ) for water in the bowl and gunk or strands in the filter element.

If your boat either has a sump and a drain cock or stripping line pull out a couple of litres into a white plastic container or paint kettle and inspect for water and gunk each year."

There is a lot of snake oil out there, I don't see a need to add any other additives other than a good Biocide abd strip the water out of the tanks.

For long and trouble free life of common rail engine geriatric Racor design on its own has inadequate agglomeration properties.

I am well aware that builders get away with it, it however I am comfortable that every installation I have been involved with is as intrinsically safe as it is reasonable to engineer.
