Diesel Fuel consumption?

Based on usage since all the work was done recently I seem to be using 3litres/ engine hour. That's just a simple number based on the clock vs the fuel gauge.

To me that seems reasonable, but what would I know?

What do the jury think?

Fuel gauges are rubbish if you want to measure accurately. I use a metre wooden rule to dip the tank through the tank inspection hatch. Depends on shape of tank so may need to do some maths!

My old '86 Mirage aft cabin with 65hp VP and shaft drive used around 0.5 gallon per hour on a good day.

By my reckoning, yours is pretty good .

Personally, I'd brim the tank as much as you dare, go out for a few hours and then re-fill.

On the river, my 2x1.7L (120hp) Merc diesels consume about 1gph, about the same as your 1x230 hp. Therefore seems about right. Clearly I have more losses/resistance than you running 2 engines, but other issues might balance this out.

Jeez, what sort of engine is THAT!!

I get 0.6gp/h approx from a little Perkins 4108 (1.8) pushing 30ft and 5 tonnes.

No idea what you mean?? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

Its a big lump of Italian engineering FNM (also Fiat/Ford/Alfa.....found all this out whilst dealing with all the $hyte of the past few months )

Now that its all fixed....and once we tweak the wastegate settings back up D) I shall be able to water ski.

The Fiat and Iveco 2.3 units were 128-136hp as standard, and could be chipped to 170hp.

200hp is up to the level of high end German Diesels from under three years ago!

I'm not sure even playing with wastegates would see anything like 200hp!!

I cant comment: that's the published spec.

But I dont expect that on the upper Thames I'm likely to find out what she's capable of in the ideal world.....

If it's a 2.3 litre Iveco/Fiat Diesel engine over five years old, it ain't going to be anything like 200hp!! I'll bet my Wifes shoes on it...

No regrets - I know you have a teeny weeny bit of experience with cars, but watson1959 is correct... The spec for his engine is 225bhp, I've seen it (the spec and the engine..) from 2.4l

Although, last time I saw it, it was making about 2.25bhp...
