Diesel ‘bug’
Fuel bacteria such as Cladosporium Resinae can multiply rapidly and even cause engine breakdowns by blocking fuel filters. This is a particular problem in marine vessels.

This has been a known problem in aviation for decades. Filaments and gel from the fungus class C. resinae can grow, surprisingly quickly, to block fuel filters and cause corrosion to fuel tank walls and seals. The organism may thrive in all sorts of kerosene products - aviation fuel, marine diesel, petrol and even creosote.

Boaties and pilotees whose safety and comfort is dependant on reliable engines should be aware of these bugs. They're out to getcha!

Just another in the long list of reasons why white flappy things are my preferred means of motivation.....
