Diesel cylinder head cover ? (Car)

Just had the gasket replaced, under Warenty, BMW 530d

Did they take the head off, or is there a rocker cover which would make the job a bit easier ?

Not sure I understand the question. There will be a camshaft cover, that has a gasket. Is this what you mean?

Cylinder head cover is likely to be the camshaft cover ?

Yes, no need to take the head off. Much bigger job.
