Diesel Bug - alternative

I have been reliably informed that adding 10% petrol occasionally will cure & prevent this. The lead equivalent in unleaded petrol poisons the little buggers apparently!

getting your (oersonal) diesel supply irradiated would be yet another possible solution?

why would you want the hassle (petrol availability/ getting 10% mix) expense and safety (in case you can't get it carry a few spare gallons of petrol around all the time) when the solution is already available in a handy sized bottle?

Jimi, Many years ago we used to put a gallon of petrol in with the diesel to stop waxing and as you stated ease startup. The company covered many thousands of miles with their vehicles with no adverse effects. Not sure I would use it on my equipment or if it will stop the bug though.

Doesn't it hurt a lot when you pull the wax off? Or is that only for legs?
I filled my diesel car up with petrol (by accident) and it still ran quite well. It started fairly well too. But it cost a lot of get rid of.

As previously stated, I accidently put several litres of petrol in my diesel.
Peugeot told me 10% petrol would not do any harm.
I still use up the old two stroke mix by putting a litre or so at a time
into the diesel tank, complete with the additional oil,
(works as upper cylinder lube)

A bit of petrol in the diesel used to be the way of getting a smokey diesel car through its MOT when the emissions test was a little less formal than it is today.
