Hi Folks,

The mammoth task of replacing fuel tank is nearly complete , out with the steel and in with a superb fabrication from Tec Tanks.Next job is to bleed the air from the system and noted that the Volvo manuel suggests that after major works to the fuel system, it is bled by undoing the fuel pipes at connection with the injectors. Are there any issues I should be wary of, as prefer to leave injectors well alone. Would prefer to just bleed using the screw in the top of the fuel filter housing as normal.

Many thanks

Rob

If you've only replaced the tank, that wouldn't constitute "major works to the fuel system". Just bleed at the engine filter as normal. Remember that the effectiveness of the priming lever on the lift pump is dramatically affected by the crank's position - if the lever doesn't seem to be doing much, just turn the crank around until you get a positive lever action.

Never new that. Explains a lot. Thanks.

I have a 2000 series and replaced the fuel tank . I don't remember doing much afterwards. Just made sure of fuel to the primary filter, then to block filter via bleed screw and hand lever.

Best of luck.

As long as the engine was completely stationary when all that work was being done you can just bleed it the way you prefer. Worst case scenario is that you'll still have to bleed the delivery lines.
