Hi,

I have searhed Scuttlebutt for info on Dieppe and found some good and some bad but not much recent. Does anyone have a view from Summer (ha ha) 2010 - depths, access, loos, etc.

All good but expensive and one of my favourite eateries is located on the drag opposite the marina.

The toilet and shower block is a bit of a trek if your are berthed at the furthermost visitors' pontoons and hopefully they haven't reverted to the token system for operating pontoon gates which required a hefty deposit before they would give you one.

Mooring facilities are good but the charges are the highest on the coast. Access at all tides - just hang a right into the marina basin.

Getting ashore is easy enough but getting back onto the pontoons out of hours is a pain, unless you get the code somehow.

This is a town controlled marina with obvious deficits. Showering etc is not very attractive and is a long march from the visitors' pontoon.

Grub ashore is excellent - ranging from cheap to rather posh. Great tea and cake shop 100m from quayside owards the supermarket.

Train service inland if needed. Ferry home too - to Newhaven.

History - loads. Visit St Jaques cathedral - crumbly but what history that place has seen!

The most expensive marina on this stretch of coast, and for the time being no facilities to match. The capitainerie is being completely rebuilt, so the office and showers have been moved to containers, where facilities are basic and comfort rudimentary.
To make matters worse, their computer system seems to have lost all data from previous years, so everything has to be fed into the computer anew. And to be able to do this, they insist on seeing your official ship's papers, which means you have to return on board to fetch them and then go through a process that takes a quarter of an hour. The sort of bureaucracy that we go to sea to escape from.
