so i thought i would start another.

We currently own a Sealine S23 (Single KAD32 with outdrive and duo props). We have both become familiar with how she handles and moving her around. However at the end of next month she is due for lifting. I have taken the day off work to take her around to the crane, however the OH cant get the time off.

This will be the first time that i have moved the boat single handed and even though it is only across the marina i am pretty wary of doing so. Unroping her and getting the ropes ready around centre cleats etc. is a problem. However i do sometimes get mixed up when coming in to moor her up and end up turning the drive the wrong way. (and no i am not blonde!!)

Has anybody got an easy way for me to remember which way to turn the steering/drive when coming in to moor alongside?

Seeing as no-one else has replied yet.
Hold the top of the wheel, turn it left to go to port, turn it right to go to starboard. Same applies whether you're going forwards or backwards.
No doubt someone a lot more experienced than me will be along shortly with a better answer!

Get a rudder gauge that sticks on the centre of the steering wheel - about £25 quid. I have used one and they work very well as long as your wheel is not horizontal and when you stick it on it is correctly set and your wheel is central. After that, works brill.
