Didn\'t I do badly?

I did badly at this lights quiz. I only got 5 out of 10. I'll have to go back to school, or else it was an off morning.

Re: Didn\'t I do badly?

You can learn and practice Nav Rules free here http://www.navrules.com It is a free 30 day downloadable programme (that doesn't expire /forums/images/icons/wink.gif) and is very useful (use intenational rules section) and a good way to pass the time on these miserable days and evenings. Good luck.

P.S. Beware the Sounds section could frighten the life out of someone in the dark /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: Didn\'t I do badly?

Would'nt care if I'd ever seen a ship, fishing boat or whatever with the corect lights showing. I've seen masive flood lights on back of trawlers. Know which boats they are. Then theres the cruise ships with lights all over the place. No, carnt be arsed with lights, after all they might have a bulb gone. Stick to radar to see where there going and what there up to!

Yep, at night there's loads of lights on ships, lights all over the place and you can't see nav lights. Never seen a big boat at night that was in complete darkness apart from its nav lights. So possibly some light regulations can be impractical; still that's no reason not to know them, I suppose.

Sort of thing that strikes fear into the hearts of us Raggies. Mobo people charging around in the dark, eyes glued to the instruments and not keeping a proper lookout.

Thankfully not everyone out there takes your view on the subject....must remember if I ever see you steaming around the West Coast of Scotland to keep my distance!!

I wouldn't, it could be Harbour Police come to see why you're not keeping a proper lookout.

Re: Didn\'t I do badly?

I got one right (10%) but then I have only been boating since July last year and even then only on the thames at Marlow (never been very far) always during the day.

Only got a Level 2 Powerboat Cerificate going for safety boat soon, which is great for what I want to do (safety boat for scouts and guides in little topper sailing boats).

Still I am about to download the programme so I can learn all the lights.
