did something happen at the red sands forts this weekend?

I was going to visit on sunday, but then couldn't and someone said that there'd been a lot of radio traffic about it on Saturday, but it was all a bit vague, and I was just wondering if something significant had happened?

There was a Pan Pan from Thames CG asking for info in relation to a possible sighting of a red flare around RSF, a few boats called in to say nothing seen and a lifeboat was launched that also found nowt. Pan Pan cancelled by Thames CG.
