Did anyone make it to Ostende?

Been expecting posts showing thirsty Brits drinking duffel or whatever it's called and pictures of ebullient semi retired harbourmasters. The wind looked great for the crossing, did anyone make it - or make it back yet?

We made it as far as Nieuwpoort and intended to visit Oostende by tram today but it's lissing it down and there's a distinct lack of enthusiasm amongst the crew

Also present: sailorman, michaelw, Kurrawong Kid and one other Fox's boat (Troubadour) - not sure if he is a forumite.

Sailorman also returned home yesterday. Michaelw also sailed but lost track of him after a while. Last seen heading towards Holland.

We're just leaving after a brief afternoon visit. The weather isn't really right for hanging around

Got in last night at 21.40, the trip was ok but curtailed by the forecasts.
A very rolly sea going out with a NWestrly mainly on this side then itwent SW so a fine sail for the last 1/2.
went on some interesting boats but the weather not conducive to sitting out listening to music & drinking bier.
8 of us forumites had a meal out in our usual haunt on Friday evening after drinkie poos aboard Sestina .
Then a mad dash home on Saturday.
With westerly winds to start we left with the ebb tide so got took NW but the wind backed sufficiently so we were able to get down to the S Galloper ( pre wind gens we would have sailed over it ).
From then until LSH we had a fine sail with some sun too. we had shook out the reef we had in & romped along, this all changed @ LSH when the wind pipped up, we came in to S Cork with 25kts apparent on the port qtr , well over pressed. It got quite cold @ LSH as well even though we were well togged-up.

Saw this on the way home

One of the 4 boats from Fox`s was the owners first time abroad with his own boat a Benny 311. He will certainly will not forget that experience :disgust:

We arrived on Saturday, held up by a Doctor's appointment. The only Brit I saw in Montgomery Dock was a visitor from Plym. Brilliant weather though.
We had a very nice steak (best I had since visiting Ireland) with fritten and a Brugse Zot.

last yr we spent about 7 hrs watching & listening whilst quaffing a bier or three in the sun, unfortunately the weather wasnt conducive this year & with the forecast we departed earlier than we would have wished.

I did get another "Gen" voor Anker flag though. we did also look-up The Cirrus, but he was awol.

Thanks to Sailorman for twisting our arms to attend. Skived off a week early so got there via Roompotsluis, Willemstad and Middelburg. Bit of a rush but nice to get away. A lot more to see than I expected. Bit bouncy coming home, but the boat's tough as old boots and she's seen us through far worse.
