Did anyone else have a \"funny\" Tide yesterday?

Low water here at Lossiemouth today is 1800 (its now 1715) and everything looks as normal today. But yesterday the west basin of the Marina was at the lowest leval I have ever seen. Pontoons were aground and areas of sand exposed. Wind direction and speed are the same as yesterday. Yesterday low water was .4 above datum today it is .3 so in therory the water leval should be even lower but its just normal. I spoke to someone at Findhorn Marina this morning and they also expressed a view that low water yesterday exposed previously unseen bits of shoreline. Where did the water go? Did you experience anything similar?

During the last period of big high pressure a few weeks ago (1040 IIRC), the tide here was down nearly 2m (on an 11m tide). Boats had to delay locking out for 40 mins after predicted time on the rising tide to get the depth on the cill, and be back half an hour early to ensure they didn't have to sit on the mud until the next tide.

Glad to hear it's not just me! I was sailing out of Brighton and decided to come in just at low water as it started to bucket with rain. Not a problem; the marina is all states access with the channel dredged to 2m, plus another 0.7m on top even at the bottom of the tide which, given a draft of 1.6m should have given me plenty of room for error. And yet we touched the bottom in three places within the buoyed channel before deciding to stand off and wait for more water. When we finally got in, rain streaming down our necks and heart in mouth, there were birds frolicking on a brand new beach inside the sea wall. The glass was reading a steady 1015 all day - any more ideas?

Although probably not connected ........... the sea level is very low in Helsinki also today and yesterday. Obviously dont usually get much variation here with it being the baltic, but it does go noticeably up and down depending on pressure and strong winds.
