We purchased a Dickson Stern Thurster March of this year, and have yet to receive the merchandise. We sent $8000 money order to this maniac and requested the thruster for May and he has been avoiding our calls ever since, in fact has an answering service that will Only fax our requests. I have left message after message and finally a threat of legal action and he told us "to go ahead". this man is demented and a thief and we are uring anyone considering the purchase of a stern thruster from Dickson to hang on to their money!!!!!! We require advice. We live in Canada. thank you Dr. and Mrs. Jack Reilly

And what country is Dickson in? It won't be worth suing unless the company (was it a company?) you placed your order with has some assets. Is it a substantial company?

If Dickson's in the UK, your first port of call is probably to file a complaint with the Office of Fair Trading.

Possibly. I think the limit is £5000, which is almost the same as $8000. I guess you could just claim the £5000 and forget any difference to make sure you came within the Small Claims Court and avoided horrible nasty lawyers' fees?

But then, we don't know whether Dicksons are in England anyway.

I'm trying to determine whether or not this company resolved this issue - I don't want to get ripped off too. If anyone has worked with them, please let me know.
