Part of being in Pwllheli was always the Beneteau Regatta, organised by Dickies every year. Good fun, not to serious for the non racy cruisers but very competitive for those who love a bash round the cans, something for all in fact and everyone always seemed to win a prize. Last year it didnt take place, HOWEVER! this year it will. Mike Caplin from Dickies has asked, would I as Beneteau Owners Association rep for North Wales, help to organise this years event? YES PLEASE was the reply.
So June 5th and 6th has been chosen as the date, its the last weekend of the school hols, the tides are neaps so we dont get in to the embarrassing position of boats getting stuck after the prize giving. Hafan Marina will do their usual half prize berthing for visiting yachts, their will be a saturday night bash with BBQ with games before hand, £25 entry per boat plus a nominal sum for the BBQ. All invited to take part, it isnt restricted to Beneteaus so all welcome!!
We could have a side issue of YBW midsummer meet forumites gathering on Sacha for drinky poos as well!! Although stink pots wont have a "race" as such I am sure we can get them to join in the festivities?
Tides are right for Caernarfon end to Pwllheli on the Friday night (4.00pm hi water neaps Caernarfon) for a 10ish arrival to be greeted by drinks on Sacha!
Please PM or reply through the forum to confirm your attendance!!

Is it necessary to be able to pronounce Pwllheli proper, to enter?
PW ok, or as another forumite says peely weely or pooth helly is ok!
Better still come along and a few scoops will banish inhibitions

When I was a lad (in the 50/60's) & went on holiday to nearby Aberdaron with my parents it was known to us as Poo Smelly :D

Had 3 boats there in the 80's and always pronounced it properly (or so I thought).

Hi to Roy (Juggler ex Lottie) who I'm sure will read this thread.

Dear All
had to make changes, it transpires that there is a Topper event on that week end, and the club infrastructure is being used, so we have to go to the weekend of the 12 and 13th June 2010. Again, the marina is offering half price berthing on the Friday and Saturday for entrants. I will work out the tides for those coming from the North and post them. Also Mobos will be catered for if enough interest shown, perhaps a midsummer YBW meet to coincide!
