The area I usually sail in is fairly busy and generally quite interesting.
Last night, we were having an engaging, if somewhat cold cruise around.
One of the crew, new to sailing, watched with great interest as we were at pains to identify a Safe Water Mark, very difficult to pick out against the shore lights.
'Why' he asked, 'if its safe, is it such a hazard??'
Um....
It is now known as the Dangerous Safe Water Buoy.
