no-one's ever mistaken me for a 'chentleman'. But, oh, how I'd love to sail off Scotland - been diving there - east, west and Orkney coasts - but not sailing. Does anyone need a reliable crewmember with impeccable credentials, recently let off for good behaviour, cooks FB and lesser cuisines, and now available for the forthcoming year? Been known to guffaw immoderately and inappropriately. Oh, and a guaranteed anonymous entry in my blog - tbps. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I went to Scotland once.
Poured with rain all the time.
Dark all the time.
Cold all the time.
Scotch people are miserable.
Couldn't understand what they were saying.
Got bitten all over by flies.
Never go there again.
PS nothing wrong with women's underclothes - I love em - but only on women.

Yer wouldn't like Newfoundland then - so, if I LOVED NFL, then Scotland - tsk, no problem. Actually, I've spent loads of time in various parts of of Scotland - my dad was a scotophile and wanted to move to Shetland for years. Then he remarried, was happy where he was, and I dont think he ever went there again - odd, that? Then he died ...

Nothing like a bit of background, is there? All my family, older and younger, do it !

Based purely on personal experience I can thoroughly recommend Suzy to any forum member as a sailing crew member. A most pleasant and useful crew and doesn't throw wobblies.

She's just like her blog.

Freestyle will, I hope, spend two or three months cruising the West coast of Scotland next year. This year's trip was all a bit rushed because crew are all too often constrained by time, and we didn't get any further than the Clyde (which in any case deserves longer than the 10 days spent there). So the plan is to sail from Anglesey, in June, before the summer rush, and sail back in early September. I would need to break the cruise at intervals for train journeys back home, to mow the lawn, put in an appearance or two at the yacht club, take SWMBO on a walking holiday, etc, but suitable crew wanting accommodation during those breaks would be welcome to stay on as a live-aboard caretaker.

Possible downsides are: skipper enjoys cooking, but isn't that good; other crew members mostly male; Freestyle tries, but sometimes fails to be a smoke-free zone; skipper a bit averse to wind over tide situations off headlands (although he remains capable of putting in reefs in between visits to the lee rail).

PM me if interested.
