On the recommendation of a recent(ish) post I contact Cheers Boat Insurance to see about a quote for my yacht.

I received the following email response to the online form:-

"Thank you for completing a quotation form.

Unfortunately, on this occasion, we have been unable to obtain competitive
quotations from Underwriters."

I'm not sure what this means... does this mean that my quote is so horrendously expensive that they fear that sending it to me will result in my demise? Or is this in fact broker speak for "we won't touch you with a bargepoie"?

Puzzled. Any brokers out there care to decipher/read between the lines?

Erm, I think you might have got that in one ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Surprised that some brokers have quite long lists, typically of moorings rather than marinas, where they will not insure boats. I am not sure that there is evidence of more claims arising from these areas.

I believe the answer lies in your personal details. You say you keep the boat in Greece. I would suggest trying a broker who is more attuned to overseas like Yachtmasters.
