\"Designed to stimulate and inspire...\" - just for LakeSailor

Just a year after the speed ban, a new event has been announced for Lake Windermere. The Windermere on Water Festival takes place on 24 and 25 June 2006. Designed to 'stimulate and inspire the imagination of all who experience it,' it involves street theatre, themed walks, story-telling and exhibitions about the lake. The highlight will be an outdoor performance of 'Herbert's Dream' (repeated on Sunday), along with other acts and a fireworks display.

I'm trying to ignore it. It seems to be a visitor attraction and not much to do with water activities. I seem to remember something about a decorated boat parade. Yummy, count me in for that.

July 30th is the Windermere Air Display with Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and Tornado and Hawk acrobatic planes.
(previous day a bit lame, so avoid the Saturday)

That's the event that gets the boats out on the lake. It's spectacular from the water. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

[/ QUOTE ] I reckon the whole thing's going to be a bit lame if they're restricted to 10 knots. You can't do much of a barrel roll at that speed.

Will the decorated boat parade be passing the webcam? I can't help feeling that we all need to share in this vital event.

Good point. In the past the protest parades have circulated Belle Isle which wouldn't quite show on the webcam.

Last years air show was terrific, just a great shame footling along at 10mph afterwards. I recall many years ago (one of the very first airshows) blasting off back up the lake & being passed by a Triana 25, a rare beast for the lake. (We had a Fjord 21 then) Happy days...
