Hello everybody, had lots of people, well at least 6 ask how the boat is coming along, and so instead of emailing countless pictures I’ve started a website. If your interested its www.desertstar.fusiveweb.co.uk . Please bear in mind its work in progress so do check back and let me know what you think.

What a lovely looking boat. I hope you enjoy bringing her back to life.

Was she a liveaboard before by any chance? Reason being, every wooden liveaboard i see (almost always being bodged up and close to sinking or sank a number of times) seems to have roofing felt on it, or lots of polyester resin (usually to stop a rotten roof or deck leaking!) The best one ive seen recently was a piece of ply nailed to the bottom of a boat to repair a leak. It sank the other day naturally!

Why do people spoil them by trying to do things on the cheap? My boat too was the victim of a bodger!

Anyway, I wish you good luck with her, she'll look fantastic in the water one day..

Was she a sister ship to Guiding Star? My first boating experience was a family holiday in 1958 aged 9. The old photos I took with my Brownie 127 look very like your boat.

Hi yes I beleive she is one of the sisters and unfortunatly there are only 6 or 7 of this class left now, but when i've finished she should be sound for another 60-70 years.
