Is it practical to use the Dervaig channel to go shopping from Loch Cuan by dinghy? Added difficulty: falling tide?
You can also take the tender up to the village of Dervaig but I am not sure it is really worth the effort — you certainly need an outboard rather than oars.
Thanks. We have a trolling motor and battery which should be good for the return trip.This guide says you can but doubts whether it's worth it;
Thanks very much, all. As it turned out we were able to make a flying visit to Tobermory co-op on the community bus and we are now well stocked up. Dervaig goes on the "to-do" list.yes, i went in there with a kayak. the channel was seemed deep and clear down the middle but there was a strong tide flowing 4-5 knots.
