Hello, maybe someone has already had my problem:
I have a depth sounder that works well with the transducer in a through-hull. Now i want to replace with a colour fishfinder and don't want to modify the hole in the boat or to make another one. There is a solution to this problem or will I go round to find a fishfinder with a transducer having the same diameter and lenght of my current transducer?

If you go for something like a Garmin Sonar, or combined Plotter/Sounder then you will be able to choose from a fairly wide range of transducers. Alternatively making the whole slightly larger will give you chance to get fresh material to bond the new one to and make for a thorough job.

Check whether the transducer you propose can be bonded to inner surface of GRP hull. Mine is a garmin Fishfinder (not colour ) and it works perfectly araldited to the inner surface of the bilge. I have seen others say this works on other brands too. You can test where to put it first with a wet bilge so as not to commit yourself.

You may not need a hole at all.
