i have an old seafarer depth sounder on my new(to me) boat.thebudget is a bit tight at the moment so before i buy a new one i'd like to see if i can get this one going.my problem being i can't find any power feed to it.socket on the back for the transducer but that's all.does it have an internal battery?if so how do you access it?or does the power come via the transducer, seems unlikely but who knows?thanks

There is provision for a battery, and also a hole with a gromet for a power supply. A long time since I had one of these excellent sounders, but IIRC there are four screws on the back. Take them out, and you can take the back off. The power does not come via the transducer.

You dont say what model.

The old Seafarer 3, popular in,the 1970s, takes a big 9volt battery ( PP9 ) or can be wired to the a DC supply and will accept quite a range of voltages IIRC

Scan of the manual for the Seafarer 3 at http://s50.photobucket.com/user/Vic43/library/Seafarer 3?sort=3&page=1

Click each thumbnail, then click the enlarge icon in the corner, then again to get full sized images of the pages or view as a slide show if you prefer
