My depth reading, displayed on my E-120 chart plotter, is intermittent. It sometimes displays the depth and then it’ll disappear only to reappear a while later. Any ideas?

Probably speed - depth also can affect it. >200 m you’ll get nothing.
Is it set to Auto for Range?

If it’s not working at slow speed and in shore then try unplugging from the system and plugging back - reset the device and see what happens....

Do you have the DSM? If so these can be susceptible to suffering from voltage drop problems. If it is the DSM you will get an alert and have to acknowledge it.

For me I just don’t turn my chart plotter (E120) on until after I have started your engines.

I have the same problem.
I am using Transom-Mount HDI Skimmer Transducer from Lowrance and EVO3 from Simrad.

Sometimes it works perfectly at even 20 knots and sometimes I lost the reading at just 11 knots.
The lost reading does not always come back even I stop my boat for fishing, from my plotter I know the depth is about 80 ~ 90 meter.
Sometimes it reappears a while later, but if it doesn't, I can only re-boot my plotter and in most cases the reading comes back.

Fwiw I prefer to run nav gear from house batteries not engine start batteries, and would always spec that. Sorry o/t
