As a new user , what are the views out there on the best retention values ; say between Janneau / Beneteau / Sealine & Fairline ? Motor boats !

Thank you in advance for any constructive information .

Just post it as a new question on the MOBO forum.

However, although you are likely to get quite a lot of response, doubt that you will get anything definitive. There are too many variables involved and not enough data available.

As others have said it's next to impossible to be definative but my view is this.
Boat (most of them) do not depreciate like cars.
Expect reasonably heavy depreciation for about the first 5 years , say about 30%.
After this depreciation levels out and value falls much more slowly.
After say , about 20 years old , value becomes much more dependent on condition , as would be logical.

Certain boats depreciate more than others , for instance all production line boats (Hanse/bene/Jeaneau/Bavaria etc. will depreciate more simply cos there are more on the market at any one time.
Something like a Contessa , Victoria , Rustler will depreciate much less.

With Mobos I would imagine depreciation would be much more car like.

Boats never really depreciate to next to nothing.

It's worth noting that your biggest costs over the years of boat ownership will be depreciation but closely followed by Marina fees if you keep it in one
