Never really looked at the mobo forum but after seeing a few refs here I risked a look over there and noted a post on red diesel going had attracted 1733 views and 88 replies.

Lots of concern about depreciation and running costs as you can imagine.

Lucky my 10hp Volvo sips fuel then! But I have to admit I'm not looking forward to replacing sails although hope to race and cruise a bit on the current ones at least for this year.

Fuel or sails - choose your expenditure!

1733 views does not mean 1733 people viewed. It is the total number of views, so 100 people could have viewed many times as new posts were added to the thread, and a limited number of people actually did any posting

OK Brendan, your maths is correct, even though, maybe the logic could be a little flawed /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You are going to have to explain that to me. The logic is better than the maths in this example

Oh, look, over 50 views in a few minutes, I wonder how that happened! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i get troubled by statements such as this or that increase in cost will "only bring us up to what europe's paying" because europe's other costs eg borrowing, housing etc are not in step with the UK and removing derogation may produce unintended consequences. Mind you, whilst on a booze cruise to Calais this w/e, i reckon to "save" as much money by drinking the wine and filling the bottles with diesel (at 1.15 euro a litre). Just how much tax are we paying on this stuff?

Right now, diesel - any colour - without tax or VAT costs about £0.25 per litre.

I think you will be lucky to get it at less than 45p litre in BULK at the moment, excluding taxes.

In that case: I'm very lucky.
