I am thinking of visiting for a few nights in mid June as I am visiting some friends. Any ideas of price and recommendations. I would prefer to anchor nearby if possible.
Thanks
Maurice
We spent a couple of days in Javea 2 years ago in April. It was about 35 euros a night. There is very limited space and you need to book ahead. I much prefer the town of Javea to Denia (have spent this winter in Javea in an apartment) but think you are much more likely to get in at Denia as they have large marinas but if you can I would go for Javea.
As for anchoring there can and often is a swell that comes into both Javea and Denia, you may be lucky but we seldom see boats anchored there. There is a nice anchorage a couple of miles south of Javea at Cabo de La Nao, again though dependent on weather.
An alternative is Moraira, about the same price as Javea, nice town, also has a useful anchorage nearby. We had a night anchored there but even there the swell came in.
Moraira is a lovely marina. I know others have found it unfriendly in high season but everybody was really welcoming and helpful to us. A tip for anyone mooring along side the wall like us: you will need to set your fenders higher than you might think as it is undercut.
The anchorage just outside the marina is delightful except in a southerly when the swell really comes in.
The town is well worth spending some time in with a good variety of restaurants but you may find it difficult to get to Javea or Denia without a car.
Javea is a great town but, if memory serves me correctly, there is some submerged pipe work in the bay making it a no anchoring zone. The marina is very full with local boats but you may get lucky.
Denia has several large marinas which all tend to be a bit pricy but usually have room. I've never seen anyone anchor there, probably because of the big ferries that also use the port.
