I have an Origo 6000 stove that I am quite fond of, I do not desire to go to a complex propane system but I just read that Alcohol is very expensive and unavailable in remote locales. This was a surprise to me since I was running under the assumption that wherever there is man, there will be alcohol, and im also assuming $9 per gallon or so will be the going rate places.

Anyone else out there using alcohol in foreign ports?

If so, whats your fuel usage/cost? Do you just fill holds with bottles of the stuff or do you have a tank for it aboard (another thing I have considered)

Thanks in advance,

It's easy to get in France - Alcool a brulee - but smell it first. I once bought a few bottles for a pierre a griller and it smelt so disgusting that I had to pour it down the drain. Even then the smell stank the house out for hours. I gather that not all French 'meths' smells as bad but I can't speak from personal experience.
