Who is organising it?
Is it just licence fees?
Where is the publicity that would get the bodies there?
Not much point in turning up with half a dozen people. Only thing EA will assume is that no one is concerned.
Any attempt to drum up a mass rally on the Thames during the winter months is doomed to failure and a straggly few is worse than no demo at all and will be used as evidence against us that no-one is really bothered.
Strikes me that demonstrating against the rises in licence fees now they are a done deal is pretty pointless.
What we do need to do is get ourselves a bloody sight better organised ready for the spring when we could mount a really visible offensive to see what can be done about getting better facilities and management on the river with a view to getting better value for money.
I am hopeful that MBM will swing behind us on this and make it a campaign issue - after all, there are probably at least as many cruisers on the Thames as there are in the Solent, if not more.
These coming 25/26 Nov. weekend demos are pretty much all concentrated on BW canals anyway, the Thames element is minimal tho pretty useless of the ATYC to be 'involved' and not even publicise properly amongst its own members !
Thanks, Byron.
Tend to agree with Boatone. So many boats laid up a this time of year, seems a bit of a waste of time.
'Fraid I am otherwise egaged anyway.
