I have a Colvic Victor 41 weighing 18.5 ton - what size Delta anchor do I need. If you read their chart and uplift the weight by one size this would indicate a 20kg anchor, however some people have suggested that, owing to the weight and relatively high deck and structure, a 25kg anchor would offer greater security.
The price difference is significant rising from £210.00 to £360.00 for the 25kg.

The weight of the anchor is not the only factor. The bigger anchor will also have a bigger blade area which will give a better grip. My boat is a little shorter than yours and weighs in at 11.5 tons. I have normally been using a 16kg Delta which for most instances has proved satisfactory but even on a very long scope as when I am setting the anchor, I have found that the anchor can still plough in softish conditions. I don't always get a solid lock on the sea bed. For that reason I am from now going to use a 23 kg Delta and sleep sounder at night.
