I've just purchased a Dell Quay Dory 11 off of eBay with a 15 horse power engine as a bit of a fun over the summer as I've a Halberg Rassy Rasmus 35 and have been subject to a little 3.3 horse power engine for the last 15 years!

What do you think the towing capabilities of the Dory 11 with a 15 horse power on the back such as would it be able to tow a rubber ring or a waterskiier well?

Im guessing you may have the same DQ dory as me, I think it's about a 13'er ; including the big rubber bow fender!:D
20hp with two people onboard it can just get up on the plane, with three no!

you won't need goggles and a helmet with just 15hp.......

There are 2 versions. 11ft and 13ft approx. I had a 13ft with a 15hp motor and it was OK for pottering but you need at least 25hp to get one to plane properly. They will take up to 40HP. The 11 ft obviously would require less but IMO you need something a bit bigger to tow a waterskier safely.

I have the 13 with a 25 hp 2 stroke. It will get on the plane no bother at all. It will also tow a rubber ring but not so that you can corner quickly and bounce people over the wake for a thrill ride. We did try skiing behind it but its just marginal with a small teenager and with a full grown adult it just does not have the oomph to lift them up on to the skis.

Currently for sale with trailer if anyone is interested.
