When I used to deliver yachts (late eighties - early nineties) the rough rule of thumb was £1 / nautical mile plus, reasonable, expenses. What are people charging nowadays?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Russell.

£2 per mile plus kitty for fuel and any fees. This is for a good quality outfit of three experienced and qualified folk who do an excellent job of prep'ing before and cleaning up the boat after delivery. You can get cheaper.

Good luck.

Sample recent quote

Recently had a quote for 600NM delivery trip - £1,800 estimated all-in unless extra delays due to bad weather. This was based on £200 per day plus expenses.

Cheers,

Depends upon distance, season & boat.
Will go from £1/Nm upward. The longer the passage, the lower the cost/mile will become on a similar boat. Also, some of this cost/mile may be paying crew.

£200/day is a 'b----y' good fee to get.

Powerboats will demand a greater cost, but usually the time is less.

Expenses etc will be on top usually, however, delivering a new boat from France to Caribbean in December, will be an all in fee of about £3000 out of which the skipper must pay for tools/EPIRB/fuel/oil/engine spares/all food/possibly liferaft/ etc, leaving a net fee of about £1500 (if lucky).
Repatriation may also not always be included!(beware of this, since skipper is responsible for repatriating crew & for any debts crew have at a Port of call).
If for 'any' reason the boat is lost, there will be a claw back of fees advanced.

Boat will be inspected at destination & can be rejected as not 'up to standard' in appearance/cleanliness/etc, & fee will again be removed or cropped.
