Crows nests are not uncommon in Australia, or I have seen one or two (on fairly large yachts 50' and over. They are invaluable when close range navigating in coral as you can better see the reefs from on high. It will be more comfortable from a crows nest than hanging in a bosuns chain or clinging to the mast (the more common method of solving the issue).
