I have a Mercruiser 250HP D-tronic engine and have religiously stuck to buying the recommended Quicksilver SAE 15X40 Diesel engine oil at about 27quid a 4L tub. I noticed Keypart are now selling the Volvo VDS 3 as a replacement but its still about £90 for 20L. I have found this SUPER HIGH PERFORMANCE DIESEL ENGINE OIL (SHPD) 15W40 ACEA E7 VOLVO VDS3 20 LTR on Ebay for £57 and free delivery. Does the panel think this would be acceptable and not be a quality compromise ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUPER-HIG...15W40-ACEA-E7-VOLVO-VDS3-20-LTR-/290638875441

Thanks for any advice

Speak to technical dept at the likes of Miller Oils , they will be able to cross refer the specs. Oil is oil and there are only so many specs , viscosities/additives so no reason for paying ridiculous prices for the right name on the bottle.
