I have acquired a dehumidifier that isn't producing any condensate, on the off-chance that there is an easy solution.

Having just exposed the works I find there are 2 sets of cooling plates, and only the lower third of one of them gets cold enough to get any condensation.
Presumably there is no longer enough coolant, or it isn't getting round the system.

Anyone know if there is an easy fix, or do I take it down to the recycling centre?

Ta. I'm also less ignorant of the principles involved now, having just discovered that one of the plates is for warming the dried air /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Should there be a recharging valve somewhere - I can't see anything on the reservoir?

Further research indicates the humidistat is knackered ie there is no variable resistance across the terminals (no resistance at any position). Since there is no point in making any more effort, the machine is off to the dump, unless someone knows where I can get a Tecxwell controller for next to nothing!

(This is posted for your general delight and delectation, since I'm sure there were many folks hoping for my success in this venture /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

I'm not sure that dehumids are the answer to curing dampness on boats I personally prefer to run heaters & provide continuous ventilation (same as modern build methods)

IMHO of course
