Can anybody tell a simpleton like me what this is and how it works, and how I indentify it. Yes I have got the mast up on my Dehler 22, but not by any means I would reveal publicly /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif There is always the gettin it down again to consider /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The boat was advertised as having the 'Dehler Mast Raising System", and I don't know whether this is a piece of kit, or a technique using the existing deck hardware.

Somebody help me please

Did you not get a manual ? You use the spinnaker pole with your main sheet attatched to the base of the mast. PM your email and I will forward you a diagram.

25 Dehler manual in German though. Page 5 is the diagram for raising the mast.

Thank you for the replies

Alles Klaar..as they say......No spinnaker pole..., and yes I did ask about it at the brokers and we searched high and low for all the bits and pieces that went with the boat. I did try it with the telescopic boathook.....don't ask.

So I have a few supplementaries
1)Does anyone know the dimensions of a spinny pole for the 22
2) Will proprietary poles be strong enough for this task
3) How do you maintain lateral stability of the mast when raising/lowering
4) How is the pole attached/located on the mast tabernacle

Thats lots more supplementaries than I intended, for which apologies. All advice gratefully received.

You can raise the mast without the spinny pole by just using the main sheets and blocks or you can basically use any correct length aluminium pole with D shackles at either end. The pole just offers more control .You need to leave the baby stays attached when raising and lowering the mast,which prevents the lateral movement.The pole connects to the" U" bracket at the base of the mast

Ha ha..newish mast..no U bracket.., but thanks for the info, at least I know I'm not completely mad, just averagely so.

The clew outhaul doesn't outhaul..no jambing cleats on genoa..lots of bottle openers left on boat. Otherwise she goes really well, better than I dared have hoped. I've overhauled the water ballast valve with new bits and that is fine now.

Quite petite inside, but so glad I didn't do more than watch a McGregor trying to sail upwind...a few tacks were worth a thousand words /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
