Any information on Dehler 28 Already know they are quite fast, good build quality . Are they suitable for single hander, being a race orientated design. Fin keel only 4' 3" do you need lots of heavy crew hanging off boat to keep it sailing well. Was looking at MGC 27 but just got bad survey report. The Dehler 28 looks like it could be another contender. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Sorry not v helpful but both of these are on the list for my next boat (not for a while though).

It seems like they didn't sell many Dehler 28s in the UK (maybe not much demand for a new boat that size at the time?), so info is hard to come by. They have the usual Dehler combination of large ballast ratio and big SA/D in a relatively narrow hull. Imo fast and seaworthy but would suit an active sailor who doesn't mind sticking a reef in and knows his way around outhaul, backstay and traveller.

As you're looking at both of these reasonably performance oriented models I assume you know what you're doing in that respect. :)

Do you mind saying what came up negative with the MGC? Was it anything specific to that model or general stuff like standing rigging etc?

Do not personally know the 28, but very nearly bought a Dehler 31 when they we introduced. At the time my parents had the cruising Dehler 37, so I know a fair bit about how they were contructed, etc.

As I did not know the 28 I checked online and turned up this one which looks in fairly good fettle.

Not a great lover of the MGC 27 as I found it a little tight internally.

Mrming Boat had been T boned in pass not brilliant repair, as well as epoxied with hull not dried out properly ,lots off other silly things. Thanks for input
