I have today secured a berth there for my new pride and joy. Unfortunately information regarding facilities seems "Hazy" has anybody seen the plans for the place? Does it look like the "North Wests most exclusive marina" or will I be moving across the water to Conway after three months?

I don't know who has produced this website.

Was it written by a four year old?

<span style="color:blue">"

Fule

details of types avalibue and charging

Hard Storage Boat,s.

No of spaces avalibule,& rates

Power washing

detailts of anti folwing anodiesing blocks ect & priceing structure" </span>

The contact page, which is the pilotage page really, is a hoot.

Not to mention:

Access to the <span style="color:blue"> pontons </span> is via a proximity switch ramp covered by <span style="color:blue"> sophistercated</span> CCTV links <span style="color:blue">directy</span> to the <span style="color:blue"> Maned </span> Marina office

etc

Jeez!

I agree wholeheartedly. The first site is an embarrassment.
This was my point really, does anybody have actual experience of the marina as it seems to be very much a "Work in progress" at this moment.

I am looking for the Lonely planet guide to Deganwy.

I knew some friends who moved there with an S34 from Windermere. Basically they liked the location but the place is still a building site and the promised facilities are still only a promise. It is also tidal and it can be quite fast with the tide so you only have a relatively small window to get out and back in.

Overall they are happy and are still there......for now anyway.

Cheers

Paul

I am going for a three month period initially, which will give me an idea of what it is like and also what else is available. I do get the impression it is some way off completion but it will be interesting to see how it develops, the hotel is opening at the beginning of next month apparently.

" Apparently", you will be using that word a lot over the next two years! Great idea to put it there for three months as a trial. I am sure you will make the most of it, /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Looked around it last year

Very impressive, I doubt you will want to move across the river.

Seemed a little vague then about access times, I'd make sure you are clear about that.

I had 2 years at Conwy in the late 90s - nice place but the channel is a bit of a bind for a raggie - you always seem to be plugging tide one way or the other. Guess thats less of an issue with big engines.

Bought our boat there last year and it is a very nice place.

It is directly across from Conwy and in a beautiful setting.

Also, there is a brand new luxury hotel being opened on the site this month. All in all, I would say that the place is on the way up.

Yes indeed. There was a recent documentry on TV about this. It was one of the best kept secrets of WW2.

I have had a "tour" with the marina manager, a very nice chap called Steve (I think) I often park up in the marina for my lunch when I am working in the area.
The marina facilities I think are finished its just the Hotel etc that is not.
The shower block is very nice with baths in the ladies and a laundry room etc. Seems to be a long walk to some berths and also seems to be quiet breezy considering its location (the wind must swirl a bit around the basin maybe)
I have some friends/aquantances there and all seem to be very happy.
The channel out from either Deganwy or Conwy is very fast running at times.
Hope this helps.
