Definition: Classic and Wooden Boats

As far as this sub-forum is concerned what it the definition of "Classic and Wooden Boats"? :nonchalance:

PS When is a 'wooden boat' not a wooden boat? e.g. a timber stripped boat encapsulated in fibreglass/epoxy? :ambivalence:

This subject has been done to death over the years on this forum, its predecessor, other YBW forums and "classic" magazines with no definitive conclusions.

The terms mean whatever the person or body using them wants them to mean. They can be used by organisations (clubs, race organisers etc) to exclude boats they do not approve of or by others as a way of being inclusive. Individuals use the terms to improve their self esteem through association with their boat or in an attempt to enhance their value.

So, not worth wasting time and energy discussing - just accept boats for what they and what they mean to you.
