Decoding pinout on my alternator

I am in the process of fitting a Sterling Alternator Controller. I have a Sole Mini 18 diesel with an alternator with remote regulator. I cannot identify the alternator type. It has a 4 terminal connector block (in addition to the battery terminal connection) marked with the letters E, F, N and A.

Can anyone tell me which terminal goes where, before I start taking the alternator to pieces?

take it off and then take it to an auto electrical specialist - you know the sort of place in a grotty industrial area with one man and a dog - they will sort it out in a few minutes !
