Anyone have any recommendations for an off-white paint to go on grp deck? I'd like something that doesn't dry to a full gloss, rather a satin type finish. Also, there is existing paint already on the grp. I've sanded through to the grp on the flatter areas but to remove all the old paint in the corners is next to impossible. Are some marine paints likely to cause a reaction over the old stuff?

To be honest you didn't need to sand through to the GRP Pete, unless there were deep marks or scores.

You can prep most surfaces using red 3mm Scotchbrite. Depending what paint is already been previously used on your boat 2k paint will be the best for durability, if you have a local car refinishing supplier they can mix your paint adding a matting agent to provide you a satin finish.

If however you want to to use a single pack paint then ICI polyurethene would be a good choice which is also purchased from an ICI automotive paint supplier.

Hope that helps

No problem Nick, I think personally it would be better if you used ICI single pack polyurethene, it can be brushed on and dries with a hard finish, this paint is used mainly on lorries and has a tough resistance to knocks and scrapes.
