For my clinker sloop, I need to renew the non-slip deck paint (v important that it is non-slip, as there is no pulpit!). Altho' the boat is mahogony planks on oak frames, the deck appears to be ply on a hardwood frame. So would anyone have a recommendation for a good cream coloured deck paint, that will go on wood, as well as sound previous deck paint?

I'd second that. Interdeck is easy to use.

To clean it, use Cif liquid - undiluted. Scrub it over the deck and rinse of with salt (or fresh) water before it dries. Usually use most of a bottle to do the whole deck.

4 years ago i bought a tin of [ non slip ] additive for floors. mixed it with a tin of cheap B + Q gloss . still on , non slip surface. i' defy anyone to tell the difference from specialist deck paints that i've used in the past and others i've seen.
also you can just add sharp sand to paint i beleive.

A lot of us have taken to using Sandtex Textured Masonry paint. Better all round than the Marine products. Goes on better, stays there, doesnt pick up the dirt and a great deal more comfortable on bare skin - for those long hot days they are promising us next summer! And its one of the best non slip surfaces I have come across!

That's really interesting - a very easy option. If it is painted into to an existing deck painted surface, are you sure you don't get any flaking problems? The beauty of sandex is that it is quick drying and water soluble for cleaning up. I just can't believe it's tough enough to walk all over?

The previous owner of my boat thought sandtex was a good idea - it isn't!

Well that was informative, would you care to expand a little?

It cracked in several places and wouldn.t take any other coating I tried. In the end we sanded primed and then 2 coats of Interdeck - a lot of time and trouble on a 40' deck.
