We still have the cheap step lights.
And I was thinking about changing them to proper deck lights.
That is lights to "light up" the external sides of the boat.

LEDs these days have changed the market.
Any recommendations for deck lights.

Would be useful to hear what fixtures you want hurricane. Are you committed to existing wiring or can you run new wires under side decks?
You need to pick a white colour and stick to it, otherwise you get a mix of whites. I try to work in 4000k outside but it’s tough finding fixtures sometimes, and annoyingly many suppliers just say warm/cold without stating the kelvin number.
FWIW I used a “ring” of hella flush circular white led fixtures mounted on internal face of bulwark, shining at the superstructure. About 1m spacing. Works well at anchor but very hard to retrofit, as in pulling down cabin ceilings. I’ll post a pic later.

At anchor? So you are one of the people who like turning a beautiful anchorage into the lobby of a cheap nightclub. Have the horrible lights in a marina by all means but stay out of anchorages.

Hardly:rolleyes: I personally think it's a sensible idea to light up the walkways on a 24m yacht bobbing** about on the sea so crew can see where they are going!! The underwater lights are also a great idea for safety when your kids are night swimming! The flashing underwater lights are great for telling the kids to come in too, It saves the parent yelling "KIDS, COME IN NOW IT'S GETTING LATE" on the loud hailer, that, Impo would be rude in an anchorage. Also, very loud music is good for blind swimmers finding their way to the correct boat at any time of the day.

**Probably not bobbing at all as the stabs will be in full motion and both gensets will be running because of the jetski's racing around the mothership, we don't want glasses getting broken from a rocking boat now do we!!!;):encouragement::cool:

SAFETY FIRST REMEMBER!! ;)

It was only a wild thought.
I was thinking of using the existing wiring but I can't remember how many of those silly little step lights that I have down the sides.
There is, at least one on each side and one over the steps from the bathing platform.
There are probably two down the sides - I'm going out next week so I will have a look.

My thoughts were that LEDs are so low power that I wouldn't need to change the wiring but I haven't looked into the power requirements so I may be wrong.
If it is easy, I may have a go.
There are more important things to do though.
