I don't know what your budget is but Aqua Signal do a very good sealed beam unit spreader light which gives excellent illumination - they are listed on their internet site (which was a bit difficult to navigate around and assume is still the same), look for the sealed beam units.

They are dearer than the cheaper choices but they are rugged and if looking for reliable service life then are probably the more economic. My observation of many of the cheaper nav and deck lights is that they do not last well and their water resistance poor. One on a spreader each side of the mast will illuminate a 12m boat's deck and cockpit to workable visibility.

I doubt that you will get much illumination from LED's, unless a very small boat and not much illumination needed, but their use for deck lights is something I have never investigated.

B&Q submersible 12v pond lights. Designed to be underwater all the time so are waterproof enough to be up on your mast. At £15 or so this is a low risk low cost way to illuminate the deck.

Now that's my sort of thinking, very good.

Off down to B&Q............... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You might also like to check the beam width (I think the max you can get is around 40 degrees and many are narrower so are not floods) and the finish as many are advised not for saltwater, or even hard water. You can get ss ones but their prices would make most peeps eyes water.
