Deck Floodlight

I have a deck floodlight mounted on the front of the mast just below the spreaders. it is a type commonly seen on older boats, consisting of a white flexible plastic housing with what I think is a sealed-beam unit mounted in it, angled down so that it lights the foredeck. Mine has packed up, and I can't source a replacement, either for the lamp or the entire unit. Anyone know if thet are still available and where?

Stick a new bulb in it, the lens comes away and reveals the bulb inside.

When I was in the same situation I took the bulb into the chandlery and they gave me a new one on the spot. Cost me 20-something Euros, though, a special General Electric bulb /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You could be right about it being a sealed unit: mine was: 55watts.
I can't recall where I sourced a replacement unit, but found one without too much searching. Motor factors? Halfords?
I remember I had to devise an unorthodox means of re-fitting involving a screwed connector and large quantities of Lifecaulk, when the mast was down for the winter.
That was 3 or 4 years ago, and it seems to be successful.

I had sealed beam units (about 4" across) fitted into rubber covers under the lower spreaders. The local chandlery only had low wattage incandescent replacements for the halogen originals, but on examination, it was only a bad (eroded) solder connection between the pin coming through the glass and the brass lucar connector - easily re-soldered, and now a spare.
