I'm looking at what to me looks like an exciting deck coating. It's 3mm thick as standard, mottled rubbery feel. Very tough, good choice of colours and extra non skid can be added.

It would make an excellent replacement for treadmaster I think, and will also be good for those who want a treadmaster like product. The sheet is made up in situ so there are no joins.

So apart from paint with non skid in it, what deck coverings are out there:

treadmaster and copies
fake teak various brands
teak and other woods

anything else?

Anyone think a sprayed on in situ covering might have a use? Is it already being done and I've missed the point?

It is so flexible, rubbery and waterproof it can be used to make up shower trays in situ - any shape you like - and is strong ie tear and stetch resistant enough to be used on wooden decks.

So come on doom mongers tell me why it's no good. :)

You might want to check how UV resistant it is, how hard wearing (longevity) and how easy to clean and maintain.

The supplier, of course, will say it's brilliant at all three, but then he would, wouldn't he.

Helpful, Ken thanks and yes, I agree. To be fair the supplier is quoting hard numbers. It's UV is the biggie, in standard form I don't think the UV is good enough as altough the results were good they did tests over just 2000 hours.

With the available UV coating I've not got hard numbers yet, but they seem to back things up with tested facts rather than wooly promises.

there's kiwigrip of course....personally I like treadmaster it's been around for years and is as tough as old boots and very, very grippy can't really see the point of this other stuff....

I'd stick to non slip paint every few years, or if feeling flush get someone else to apply it.

Seems to work for most people around inc' me, but if someone's invented a wonder system with gravity boots & anti - phaser hull plating, good luck to them. :)
