deck cleaner (the product not a person)

If its teak it was me that started it, can't find the thread... but the product was Brintons Patio Magic...

as stated in the thread, it gets rid of all green algae and keeps the teak silver... it does not turn it that light brown "new teak" colour... (which everyone seemed to think was what they wanted!). Plus side is it takes no effort and really does work... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ah. I started a thread about teak cleaner that makes it looks like teak. Obviously not what you want!

Have tried all the other chandlery stuff but none would remove the nandos sauce.

I found this interesting statement as I've tried 'Starbrite' & 'Wessex' two part teak cleaners and they both worked equally well and appear to work exactly the same as illustrated in you post. I think it may have been the scourer that cleared it as the chenicals are probably the same.

Also, it's worth remembering that stubbon or heavily soiled teak may need 2-3 applications to remove grime.

The only real question is whether you decide to seal it afterwards....

Choices being:
Teak oil
Danish oil
'Teak Wonder'
'Semco'

Some people would cringe at this list but also some manufacturers like Nimbus, I was told recommend Danish oil. I found that dirt sticks to the oiled surfaces and wouldn't use it at all. But I like the sealed natural colour and choose 'Semco' natural, but you have to use it sparingly, no excess whatsoever (wipe it on ,wipe of excess) or the black lines can be go yellow which looks naf.

OOOH that looks nice.

In all seriousness I love teak looking like this, however i have been assisting my ageing parents on a annual basis cleaning the teak on their boat, and its a massive job 48 feet of it (see below).. until my dad announced this year I wasn't needed. He was quite happy with his teak being clean and silver in colour so he had been recommended this patio magic and was happy using it (as was I!!!)

I suppose it depends how much teak you have!

I tried the starbrite 2 part and it didn't touch it. I like many of the starbrite products but the teak cleaner didn't work for me.

HAve bought semco sealer but haven't sealed it yet. Had to seriously sand the bathing platform as the previous owner jetwashed it and it was like a washboard.

When I'm happy with all the sanding, I'll a glaze the lot again and seal.
